π± Our Role as Stewards of the Earth
This monthβs Girls Youth Programme explores a vital and deeply relevant topic β The Environment and The Muslimah π
In a world facing growing environmental challenges, Islam teaches us that caring for the planet is not optional, but a core part of our faith and identity as Muslims.
Join us for an engaging session led by Ustadha Zulekha, where weβll explore how the Qurβan and the Sunnah call us to protect, appreciate, and preserve the natural world around us πΏ Through both spiritual reflection and practical discussion, weβll uncover how Muslim women can embody environmental responsibility in their daily lives.
π Qurβanic Foundations for Environmental Care
The Qurβan teaches us that we are khalifah (stewards) on this earth:
βIt is He who has made you successors on the earthβ¦β (Surah Al-Anβam, 6:165)
Allah also warns against destruction:
βAnd do not cause corruption upon the earth after it has been set in order.β (Surah Al-Aβraf, 7:56)
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ο·Ί lived a life deeply rooted in appreciation for nature β conserving water π§, caring for animals πΎ, planting trees π³, and teaching that kindness to all creation is a form of worship. He ο·Ί said:
βIf a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charity.β (Bukhari)
These teachings remind us that environmental care is an act of faith and worship π€
π¨ Activity: Design Your Own Reusable Bag
Participants will enjoy a creative and meaningful activity where they will design their own reusable tote bag π to take home. This hands-on session encourages sustainability, mindful consumption, and responsibility through an Islamic lens.
